Companies ask me this question so frequently I had to add it here.

The honest truth: I don't know the answer to this question. And I won't give you one — because if I did, you'd just memorize it and act it out, and that's exactly what HRs are trained to spot.

So instead, let's think about why they ask it and what they're actually listening for.

My guess: HRs ask this question not to hear a beautiful philosophy of conflict resolution — but to make sure you're not a problem. They're running a filter. If you don't trip any of these, you pass.
