Cookie Policy

Cookies are small files a site stores in your browser. This policy also covers equivalent technologies — localStorage and similar browser storage — because the law treats them the same way.

It should be read alongside our Privacy Policy, which explains what we do with personal data more generally.

When you first visit, a consent banner asks what you are willing to allow. Until you answer, nothing optional runs — analytics and advertising are switched off by default, not on.

Rejecting is exactly as easy as accepting, and it is a single click. Nothing on this site stops working if you decline — every lesson, drill, video, and account feature behaves identically either way. Declining costs you nothing and costs us a little reporting accuracy, which is the correct way round.

Manage cookie settings

These are required for the site to function and for you to stay signed in. They cannot be switched off, and under EU law they do not require your consent.

On HTTPS these cookies carry the __Secure- prefix. They are set by this site only, and are never shared with a third party.

Your consent choice

Your answer to the banner is stored by our consent manager, Termly — not in a cookie, but in your browser's local storage, under the key TERMLY_API_CACHE. It records which categories you allowed and when you decided.

This one is necessary in its own right, and it is the single exception to the rule in the next section: unlike your interface preferences, the consent record is sent to Termly, because we are required to be able to demonstrate what you consented to and when. It has no fixed expiry — it lasts until you change your choice or clear your browser storage.

These entries stay in your browser and are never sent to our servers. Clearing your browser data removes them, and losing them only resets an interface preference.

We use two different things to understand how the site is used, and they are governed differently. The distinction matters, so it is worth being precise about it.

Vercel Web Analytics and Speed Insights — no consent needed

These tell us how many people visit which pages, and how fast those pages load. Neither sets a cookie, and neither reads one. They do not store an identifier in your browser, do not follow you across other websites, and do not build a profile of you. Visits are counted using a short-lived, non-reversible hash derived from request data, which is discarded within 24 hours.

Because no information is stored on or read from your device, this measurement falls outside the consent requirement of the ePrivacy Directive, and it runs whatever you choose on the banner. We rely on our legitimate interest in understanding how the site is used, and you can object at any time — see your rights.

Google Analytics — only if you allow it

We use Google Tag Manager to load Google's measurement and advertising tags. Anything it loads that stores or reads information on your device is switched off until you consent, and stays off if you decline.

While you have not consented, Google's tags run in a restricted mode: they set no cookies and store no identifier, and send only aggregate, cookieless signals that let us count traffic without recognising you.

No Google Analytics measurement is switched on at the moment, so no Google analytics cookie is currently set on this site at all — the tag container is in place, but empty. When we do enable it, this page will list each cookie by name and duration before it is used, and the analytics category on the banner is what will control it.

We advertise this course on Google. If you accept the advertising category, Google's tags may set cookies that let us measure whether an advert led to a sign-up or a purchase, and let Google show our adverts to people who have visited before.

If you decline, none of that happens: no advertising cookie is set, no identifier is stored, and you will not be added to any remarketing audience. We may still be told, in aggregate and without anything that identifies you, that an advert resulted in a visit.

No advertising tag is live yet, so no advertising cookie is currently set on this site — as with analytics above, each one will be listed here by name and duration before it is switched on.

We do not sell your data, and we do not share it with advertising networks other than Google.

The banner groups everything above into categories. What each one controls, and how it maps onto the signals we send Google:

A few lessons embed a YouTube video. Until you press play, the video is not loaded at all: what you see is a still image served from our own servers, and nothing whatsoever is requested from Google or YouTube. No cookie, no identifier, and no request that would tell Google you are reading the page.

This is why video is not one of the categories on the banner. There is nothing to consent to until you act, and pressing play is the act — so videos work exactly the same whether you accepted, declined, or never answered.

When you press play, and only then, the player loads from YouTube's privacy-enhanced youtube-nocookie.com domain. At that point YouTube (Google) receives your IP address and device information and may set its own cookies, governed by Google's privacy policy. If you would rather that did not happen, do not press play. Embedded videos appear only inside the paid course area, never on the public marketing pages.

No Facebook or LinkedIn tags. No session recording, no heatmaps, no scroll or mouse tracking. No data brokers, and no selling or sharing of personal data for anyone else's advertising.

Our advertising and analytics are Google only, they are off until you say otherwise, and nothing on this site tracks you across other websites without your consent.

The quickest route is the banner itself — reopen it with the Manage cookie settings link, change any category, and save. Your new choice takes effect immediately and any cookie you have withdrawn consent for stops being used.

Independently of us, every browser lets you view, block, and delete cookies and site storage, usually under Privacy or Site settings. Blocking the strictly necessary cookies above will sign you out and prevent you from signing back in, since they are what carries your session.
